Questions To Ask On A First Date

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Oh my! You have a first date with someone this weekend! You are probably quit excited and nervous at the same time. Are you wondering what your conversation will be like? Or… what are you going to wear?

It is hard talking to someone you have just started dating. Most of the time you don’t know each other well enough to know what subject to talk about.

And easy solution to this is to make a list of questions at least in your head. Make the questions fun and casual for the first date. They should not be too invasive at this point.

Just touch on the type of things that will let you in a bit on the other person’s personality. Below is a list of possible questions you can ask on your first date.

Questions To Ask On A First Date:

1. If you don’t know already ask them what part of town they live in? Maybe they live near you.

2. Where do you work or go to school? If they are working ask them what their duties are at work. If they are in college also ask what they are majoring in.

3. What style of music do you enjoy listening and who is your favorite band or artist? This will show you whether you can listen to music together.

4. Do you like animals and do you have a pet? This shows if a person has a heart.

5. What sports do you like to participate in? Have you ever played them on a collegiate level? Would you like to go pro with any of them?

6. Do you like high-calorie foods or are you constantly counting calories? This may dictate where you can go out to eat for meals.

7. Do you have a bad temper or does it take a lot to get you mad? It is important to know someone’s temperament from the beginning of the relationship.

8. Do you have any allergies I need to know about like colognes or foods? You would not want to wear a scent of colognes that sent them into an allergic reaction. You also would not want to serve them food they were allergic to.

9. Do you like to go to the lake, camping, fishing, swimming, or other outdoor-type activities? This could expand the kinds of dates you could have in the future if you decide to keep seeing each other.

10. What new movies have you seen lately that you like? Any you did not like seeing?

11. Do you like video games or are you a computer addict? This again, maybe something both of you have in common.

12. Have you ever been mountain climbing? If so which mountain and up to what altitude? This is just a fun question to ask.

13. Have you ever wanted to parachute out of a plane? This will tell how daring they are.

14. Are you curious about my likes and dislikes?

These are just a few of the questions you can ask on a first date. You will most likely come up with many of your own. Just remember to keep it light and fun so you can enjoy exchanging information.

Don’t make it sound like the other person is on the hot seat! This will make them feel uncomfortable. Most of all have a great time on your first date.

The above questionnaire is an example of the type of get to know you questions that can help strengthen a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. They are also good premarital questions that can be taken into account before marriage.

Some can be considered questions to ask on a first date or questions to ask a potential boyfriend, but they can vary depending on each person, situation and the relationship it self.

But the best use of these questions is to get to know someone better. To help uncover the real and mysterious individual that hides behind the social mask. To see who will be the real person if that boyfriend turns into a husband and a life long spouse.

Within courtship, we only know up to a certain extent about our partner. Within marriage, things change. Both partners will have to learn how to cope with each other with all of their past, present and future for as long as they live.

This would include: family members, friends, neighbors, pets, ex relationships and personal and intimate experiences. The above deep questions for couples help unfold all of this. They are not to be considered a quiz or a survey, but rather simple questioning for better understanding.

As for the answer to these questions, they will depend on his reaction because  they are personal. As mentioned on a previous post, they have to do a lot with the truth, and sometimes, the truth hurts.
