But with questions or no questions, starting to get to know someone usually comes with its own little tension in the beginning (where we do not know how to start a conversation because of the little that we know about them).
A first date can be the perfect example were two people try to “break the Ice” to open up to each other and express themselves more comfortably.

These icebreaker questions are great for couples who are starting a new boyfriend and girlfriend relationship. They might be considered weird, deep, silly, crazy, interesting, good and personal, but they sure help unfold trust.
Other random situations were breaking the ice might be necessary are first time group meetings, family reunions and dinners.
More formal occasions can be a job interview or a public speech were the interviewee or speaker needs to break the ice with the interviewer or the public to feel more relaxed and focused on what they have to say.
But in all situations breaking the ice means to loose up that tension that we psychologically place on ourselves when we are with a person, group of people or situation. As time passes by, and we get more accustomed to these, our tension usually fades away.
